At just one year old, Amar embarked on an extraordinary journey with his mom, traveling nearly 6,100 miles from Prizren, Kosovo, to the United States. Born with a ventricular septal defect—a small hole between the lower chambers of his heart—Amar needed a surgery that wasn’t available in his home country. After one successful open heart surgery, this brave little boy was toddling and babbling like toddlers do. The pair returned home with hearts full of gratitude.
