Jeremi – Age 1 – Nicaragua
Jeremi was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot at six months old. Anytime the baby would cry, he would turn purple and was always tired. He and his mother, Ruth, traveled many miles to a doctor where she was told her only baby would need heart surgery. Ruth had a miscarriage before Jeremi and was scared to lose him too. The terrified mom found HeartGift, and Jeremi was accepted into the program. He arrived in the United States all smiles, but quickly caught a common cold virus and surgery was slightly delayed. Doctors proceeded with his life-saving heart surgery and youngster began to feel better almost immediately. For the first time in his life, Jeremi had the energy to play like a normal baby.
