Martha – Age 5 – Philippines

Martha was diagnosed with ventricular septal defect, a small hole between the lower chambers of her heart, where too much blood was being pumped into her lungs leading to heart failure. Unfortunately, the necessary surgical treatment is not available in her country.

Martha’s mom found HeartGift and the pair traveled 8,500 miles from the Philippines by way of Cebu City to Tokyo to Dallas, then to San Antonio. The hole was successfully closed and Martha made a full recovery. She’s now at home back to coloring, dancing, and riding her bicycle!
