The children HeartGift serve need just one surgery but it is not available where they live. Each surgery costs $25,000 but is free to the children and their families.
Larah is a precious 21-month-old girl from Haiti who was diagnosed at just a few months of age with a ventricular septal defect, a hole between her heart’s lower chambers which impacts the way blood flows through her heart and lungs. This heart defect causes Larah episodes of fainting and prolonged crying. While her medication helps relieve the symptoms she experiences, Larah needs open heart surgery to repair this defect and save her life.
