Hilwa – Age 2 – Ethiopia

Shortly after birth, Hilwa was diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus, which is an extra blood vessel causing extra blood flow to the lungs, and the necessary medical care is not available in Ethiopia. She and her mom traveled more than 8,500 miles to Austin for her HeartGift surgery. With just one successful procedure Hilwa has returned home where she is an active, rambunctious toddler.
