Larah – Age 2 – Haiti

Shortly after birth Larah was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect – specifically, a hole between the bottom two chambers of her heart called ventricular septal defect (VSD). Unfortunately, specialized medical care in Haiti did not exist so HeartGift stepped in.

The 22-month-old traveled 1,800 miles from Haiti with her dad, Mackenson, to San Antonio to start her HeartGift medical journey. Cardiothoracic surgeons successfully closed the hole between the bottom two chambers of her heart, and Larah is feeling much better and is now moving and grooving endlessly like toddlers do!
