Jacob – Age 4 – Philippines
Jacob was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a combination of four defects in his small, fragile heart, and arrived in Houston very sick. Youngsters with Tetralogy of Fallot are often called ‘blue babies.” Their lips, fingers, and fingernails are often blue-ish because not enough oxygen-rich blood is circulated throughout their body and extremities effectively. Open-heart surgery was successful, and the 4-year-old’s tiny heart was mended. His appetite increased and he ate tons of eggs and pancakes, putting on weight thanks to those delicious calories!
