Leia – Age 1 – Belize

Leia was a preemie born at only 33 weeks and quickly diagnosed with a heart murmur and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Unfortunately, there was no specialized care available where she lived so HeartGift stepped in.

Leia and her mom, Bianca, traveled to Houston for her free HeartGift open-heart surgery. Surgeons successfully closed the opening between the two major blood vessels leading away from her heart. Leia returned home to her extended family and is doing great!
