Naz – Age 4 – Syria
When Naz was born, her mother knew immediately something was wrong due to her baby’s erratic breathing. Doctors quickly diagnosed her with a hole between her heart’s two lower chambers called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). Surgery was desperately needed. Naz’s family found HeartGift and was accepted into the program. Leaving a father and two sisters behind in a war zone, Naz and her mom made their way to United States for her life-saving heart surgery. Upon arriving, Naz would toggle between speaking four different languages – English along with Armenia, Arabic and Kurdish. Naz’s open-heart surgery was extremely successful, and her heart was repaired. Today, Naz’s energy levels have increased dramatically, and she loves to dance, dress up and play at the park.
